Reaching Out To New Readers

21st July 2014
What’s been happening over the past few months on Briar Ridge? Well, we’ve been busy working on ‘The Crystal Lake: Part Three of The Journey’ which is now coming together beautifully in Tracey’s skilful hands (did we mention that she does ALL the reprographics on our books as well as the photography?). Here’s a taster of what’s to come:

“Take care”, they warned, “you never know

Who watches, follows where you go:

Friendly or hateful - who can tell?

Your judgement now must serve you well.”

Along the water’s edge I crept,

Past ruined halls where spirits slept,

Watchful and wary my advance

Through vernal groves where sunbeams danced.

Word of mouth is our most valuable sales tool, so if you have read our books and enjoyed them please remember to tell other people about them too: the sooner we sell out, the sooner we can bring you ‘The Crystal Lake: Part Three of The Journey’!

School Visits

We were thrilled when some local schools decided to read ‘The Wicked Wood’ with their children, whose ages ranged from 6-11 (though we have readers from ALL age groups, right up to their 90s, who enjoy the books). They loved the combination of photography and verse, and plied us with a variety of interesting and imaginative questions when we went to visit them. Some of the children had gone outdoors, taken their own photographs and written their own poems, whilst others had memorised some of the verses and recited them aloud, putting actions to the words.

If you would like to talk to us about bringing the books into YOUR school, please get in touch and we’d be delighted to discuss it with you. Perhaps the best endorsement we had was a mother who told us, “My daughter really loves your books - congratulations, you got it so right! She even quotes verses when we are out. You actually got my girl to read books again.”

You can buy all our books direct from us online through our secure shopping cart (we’re happy to sign them for you - or as a gift for someone else): we love the chance to ‘meet’ our readers and know where our books are going.

These lovely Shropshire Independent bookshops also sell our books:
